Christmas Gifts 2026: Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Hand-Painted Ceramics

Frantoio Muraglia’s Christmas gift ideas for 2026, sorted by budget and by who will receive them: from colourful tins and the Rainbow Tasting Pack, under €40, to gift boxes with three hand-painted ceramic jars. Inside there is always our extra virgin olive oil from Puglia. At the end you will find the dates to order in time for Christmas, in Italy and abroad, and the gift packaging options.

The most popular Christmas gift in Italy is something to eat. According to the Coldiretti and Ixè survey on Christmas 2025 (in Italian), food and wine products were the top gift category, ahead of clothing and accessories. And more than one family in three chose a hamper of specialities, spending an average of €48.

Many of those hampers include a bottle of olive oil. An extra virgin olive oil straight from the mill, in a hand-painted container, is a way to give the same gift with an extra thought: it lasts beyond the holidays.

In this guide you will find our ideas for Christmas 2026, sorted by budget and by recipient, with everything you need to make sure they arrive on time.

Why give extra virgin olive oil for Christmas?

Because it is a gift that gets used every day, is enjoyed without waste and tells the story of a place. An extra virgin olive oil from the mill brings a family’s work and the flavour of a land to the table. And if it comes in a hand-painted jar or a collectible tin, the container stays in the home even after the last drop.

Giving olive oil also has an ancient meaning. It is a gesture of hospitality and good wishes: you give what nourishes every day. In the South of Italy, the family’s own oil is the heart of the “pacchi da giù”, the boxes of specialities sent to loved ones who live far away.

We have been producing it in Andria for five generations, and we dress it in the ceramics of Apulian master craftsmen. That is our idea of a gift: something good, inside something beautiful. And December is also the month of the new oil, the right time to show the people you love what a real extra virgin olive oil from the mill is.

Jeroboam Ceramic Jar, €145. The extra-large version of the jar, holding 3 litres: an important gift for anyone who cooks with extra virgin olive oil every day.

What to give someone who loves cooking?

For someone who loves cooking, give an oil to discover, not just to use. The Rainbow Tasting Pack compares three different oils; the Aromatics by Apreda bring the spices of a Michelin-starred kitchen; the mini couvettes let you taste many flavours in a small format. For someone who has everything, a Magnum or a Jeroboam never stays long in the pantry.

The rule is simple: choose according to how the person cooks. Those who love bold dishes, such as legumes, meat and soups, will enjoy the Intensely Fruity monocultivar Coratina. Those who prefer fish and vegetables, the Medium Fruity monocultivar Peranzana. Those who like to experiment, the aromatic oils.

How to choose a good olive oil to give as a gift?

Look at three things: the harvest year on the label, a container that protects the oil from light and a producer who explains how they work. The harvest year, or crop year, may only appear if all the oil in the pack comes from that harvest: it is precise information, not a slogan.

The container matters as much as the oil. Light and heat are the worst enemies of extra virgin olive oil: ceramic and tin protect it better than clear glass, which is why our jars are not just beautiful.

Finally, the size. A 250 ml bottle or tin is perfect for a taste; a jar or a box with several oils is a gift that stays on the table for weeks. If you want to know more, we explain how to read an olive oil label.

When to order to receive your gifts before Christmas?

In Italy deliveries usually take 2 to 5 working days, and 5 to 10 in the rest of Europe. To receive your gifts before Christmas, we recommend ordering by 14 December for Italy and by 1 December for the rest of Europe.

We ship with express couriers such as Bartolini, GLS and FedEx. In Italy shipping costs €5 or €7 and is free over €70; to Germany, Austria and France it costs €10 and is free over €200.

Jars and bottles travel individually packed, so that they arrive intact: here is how we ship our olive oil. And if your gift is not already in a gift box, you can add the Essenza or Jar gift case and the shopping bag when you order.

Corporate gifts and large quantities

If you are thinking about gifts for clients, colleagues or suppliers, you will find our proposals on the page about corporate gifts with olive oil, together with the options for personalising them with your logo.

A gift that stays on the table

You can tell a good Christmas gift after the holidays, when it is still being used. Extra virgin olive oil is used every day; a hand-painted jar stays on the table even when the oil is finished, and can be reused.

You will find all our gift sets, including those not in this guide, on the page with all our gift ideas.

Frequently asked questions

Does giving olive oil bring bad luck? No. The popular superstition is about oil spilled by accident, on the table or on the floor, not oil given as a gift. On the contrary, in Mediterranean tradition olive oil has always been a gift of good wishes, a sign of abundance and care.

What does it mean to give olive oil as a gift? It is a gesture of hospitality and good wishes: you give what nourishes every day. In the South of Italy, the family’s own oil is the heart of the parcels sent to loved ones far away, and giving it means bringing a piece of that home to the table.

How long does olive oil received as a gift keep? Until the best-before date on the label, as long as it stays unopened, in the dark and away from heat. Once opened, it is best used within the following months, while its aroma and flavour are at their best.

Are the gift sets ready to give? Yes: gift boxes and gift packs arrive in their own box. For other products, you can add the Essenza or Jar gift case and the shopping bag when you order.

Do you ship abroad? Yes, throughout Europe and outside Europe too, with express couriers. To European destinations delivery usually takes 5 to 10 working days; in countries where they apply, customs duties are paid by the buyer.
